Abstract:

This report is an experience report on the analysis, design, and
implementation of a reusable search component in a real life project. The
document describes the experiences and lessons learned with the used
techniques and technology, i.e., use cases, group work, design and
architectural patterns and a meta-model. The search component was
constructed considering requirements from another project that is scheduled
to reuse the component in the near future. The main hypothesis of the
project is that using a few extra resources, for taking requirements from
other potential reusers into consideration, will ease reuse. However this
report only describes the construction of the reusable asset and the
reusable asset itself, not the reuse in a second project. This will follow
in a subsequent report. Furthermore, the overall design of the component is
described.
