This is done by working with architectural elements such as (application-) frameworks, design rules and design patterns, component-based architectures (like COM and ActiveX), distributed objects (like CORBA), open implementations, documentation, etc. <DT><EM>Tool support for (cooperative) OO development</EM> <DD> Most existing tools of OO software development are single user oriented. One goal for COT is to investigate tools for cooperative software development and for supporting the initial phases of analysis and design. Technologies to be investigated are conference systems and electronic whiteboards in the form of large touch sensitive computer screens. <DT><EM>Introduction of OO into companies</EM> <DD> In practice there be a number of problems with introducing OO into a company, since OO development in many ways differs from traditional function-oriented development. This requires a number of changes for the company as well as the developers.
